Tom Cotter Still Sees Dogs in His Nightmares

It's 2012. AGT Season 7 (Tom says 12 but I think he confused the Season and the Year) is about to announce their 7th winner. Nick Cannon stands center stage, flanked on either side by two acts who are about to be the highest finishing act in their talent category in the history of the show, regardless of the result. To Nick's right stands comedian Tom Cotter. To his left, stands a South American Father and Son duo Richard and Nicholas with their gaggle of white, fluffy dogs. Cotter made his way to the Final 2 thru his quick wit, his sharp one liners, and his unrelenting pursuit of laughs. The Olate Dogs got there because they had dogs. As Nick screams that the winner of the 7th season is the Olate Dogs, Cotter has to grapple with his new reality: he lost to dogs. Imagine losing the biggest talent competition in the world (and a million bucks) to things that don't even know they are in the competition against you. The epitome of brutality.
Fast forward 14 seasons, and as we near the eve of the Finals of Season 21, America has advanced not one but two dog acts into the 10 act Final. And Tom Cotter's 14 year old nightmare is still as fresh as it was in 2012. And being the journalists that we are here at the AGT Time Podcast, we felt it necessary to reach out and get an official statement from two-time recurring guest and great friend of the pod, Tom Cotter. I could do my best to express the feelings that Tom is having, but I'll just let him tell you. Enjoy!
